BEL was established in 2002, referring to its establishment decree by the Director General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti), the Ministry of National Education (Depdiknas) with the number 269/DIKTI/Kep/2000, dated on August 10, 2000. It was initially established to offer humanities study programs. BEL has become a distinguished and nationally recognized program in the fields of literature, linguistics, translation, and cultural studies. It upholds high moral values and a multicultural perspective in implementing the three pillars of higher education (education, research, and community services), emphasizing independence and professionalism in its various efforts to meet the demands of the “global society”.
