The PKKMB of UNJ’s English Literature Study Program is Held Offline Again After Being Online for Two Years. How Can The Event Run Successfully?

Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) is a program that must be followed by all new students and is an activity to introduce and prepare new students in the process of becoming mature and independent students, accelerating the adaptation process of students to the new environment and providing provisions for their success study in college in the future.

Two years after the COVID-19 pandemic, which required the introduction of campus life for new students to be held online, it can finally be held offline again. The PKKMB of UNJ’s English Literature Study Program was held for three days, while the Pre-PKKMB was held on August 18, 2022 then the first day of PKKMB was held offline on August 25, 2022 at the Dewi Sartika building on the 10th floor and the second day was held online on August 26, 2022 via zoom meeting. The PKKMB of UNJ’s English Literature Study Program was not fully held offline, but the event was still  successful.

 ️

Nadhif Zuhdi Ramli as the chief executive of the PKKMB of UNJ’s English Literature Study Program said that the committee, Study Program coordinators, lecturers and new students who were very responsive to the offline PKKMB of English Literature event were one of the factors that made the event smooth and successful.

“Communicate well with fellow committee members, have a mutually agreed concept so that the event runs smoothly and have individual motivations such as feeling excited because they can carry out offline activities again.” Nadhif said when asked about how to make the offline PKKMB of English Literature Study Program successful after two years online.

In addition to the above, there are still several things that make the event run smoothly and successfully, which is the preparation that takes a long time.

According to Nadhif about the preparation of the PKKMB for the English Literature Study Program, he said, “The preparation of the PKKMB for the English Literature Study Program took a month, indeed it took a little longer than the preparation of other Study Programs due to personal limitations, but it did not become an obstacle to making the event run smoothly and the final result was better than the others. On July 21, the first coordinator meeting was held, I as the chief executive and my colleague Irfan have created a visual theme, namely waves or beaches which give birth to fresher ideas in the future.”

The offline PKKMB of UNJ’s English Literature Study Program ran smoothly and was also successful because previously the UNJ’s English Literature Study Program had made its first offline event after two years, namely ESPG which was held on 11 July 2022. There were not many obstacles that occurred at the event that made the committees able to become better for the PKKMB event for the English Literature Study Program because it has already carried out an evaluation.

However, the success of an event must have obstacles as well as in the PKKMB for UNJ’s English Literature Study Program. The inhibiting factor is the room problem because the Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) building which should be used for the offline PKKMB of UNJ’s English Literature Study Program is being renovated.

Nadhif, the chief executive said that, “The factor that hinders the implementation of the PKKMB offline of English Literature is the room because our faculty building, the Faculty of Language and Arts, does not have a building because it is being renovated and requires us to use a multipurpose building, the Dewi Sartika building on the 10th floor. But there was a dispute with other faculties or study programs who wanted to use the room because there were indeed many who lacked room.”

There are no other inhibiting factors besides room problems, because basically the key to success for the PKKMB of English Literature Study Program is the intention and preparation that already exists in the committee, Study Program coordinators, lecturers and new students themselves. This means affirming that if we want to make an event run smoothly and successfully, we must have sufficient intention and preparation.
